The World of Lexica™: Unbound app for iPhone and iPad

The World of Lexica™: Unbound is a beautiful 3D game world designed for students ages 10 to 14. The initial version includes 12 months of episodic content as well as a gaming engine that enables players to plan, build and write stories they can share with others. As players explore a vast, fantastical library and read books from Amplifys virtual library, their avatars grow and acquire magical powers. Players can also access and progress through a series of embedded games that focus on the development of vocabulary, spelling and grammar skills.

Lexica’s main dialogues and instructions are provided in Spanish as well as English, to encourage participation from ELLs and to support dual-language learning.

Scriptus

With Scriptus, players can expand Lexica: Unbound by creating their own stories and sharing them with friends. Scriptus offers players a large set of items and characters and enables them to design environments, write dialogue and create narrative structures of varying complexity. Players can either start entirely from scratch or else modify existing story elements. A variety of prompts help players think closely about story structure before they begin to write. Scriptus encourages players to treat their creations as drafts that they can edit based on the suggestions of their friends. This practice of critique and revision fosters a community of writers and readers who are invested in one another’s work. Players can explore worlds imagined and realized by their friends and discover narrative possibilities even the characters original authors might not have imagined.
